leadership

My vision of leadership

There are many different definitions for the leadership in today. There are many people trying to define the relevant definitions of leadership, there are many leadership. Some people think that the leader is at the heart of organizational change and activities, and efforts to realize the vision of the people; was also suggested that leadership is a person’s innate, can guide others to complete the synthesis of the characteristics and personality of the task.

And, leadership and subordinate leaders and their power relations between the relevant leaders have the power to influence others and use their leadership. The so-called leadership in my opinion, it is a special kind of interpersonal influence, each organization a person will go to influence others, but also to accept the influence of others, and therefore has the potential of each employee and realistic leadership. In organizations, leaders and members to jointly promote the team toward our goal, so as to constitute an organic system (Mullins, 2013)

Inspiration

There are many successful leaders who inspired me, such as Steve Jobs from Apple, Virgin Group CEO is Sir Richard Branson and the Larry page is Google CEO. However, for me the biggest influence on the leadership understand is my father. In manage the family business, my father always teaching me. A leader must be upright, honest, respectful of the feelings of others, and do not put the interests of individuals or small groups and needs in the first place all metrics. Otherwise, people will not follow him. Also, it is important to success leader must be pay more attention to kwon you employee their strengths and weaknesses.

Feedback & Improvement

The feedback I have gotten from my classmate has helped me to be more aware of my strength of being a leader. Their advice helped me to understand what is responsible for leader and the confident of a good leader is very important. Leadership role is challenging, but frustration is inevitable. The confident can make the leader to overcome difficulties in the case of uncertainty the courage to make decisions. At the same time, can gradually be confident to others.

Second, a good leader knows a lot about technical issues for their industry, company. Leaders must have sufficient intelligence to enable to explain a lot of information, higher education is important in their career. But ultimately not as expertise in matters related to the organization is more important.

Finally, there is a personal skill is probably the most important, the perception of others’ needs and goals and adjust the ability of leadership methods, leadership means to evaluate other people, to assess the environmental, and select or change behavior in order to more effectively respond to the requirements of the environment, this kind of behavior is the foundation of leadership.

For example, US technology company Google was having a good leader. In our weekly meeting (meeting) on Friday, Google employees can directly to Larry, Larry and Sergey (Sergey) and other manager provides a large number of problems associated with the company, not to mention via email or in the coffee shop to ask questions. Our offices and cafes for Google employees to communicate communication within and across groups provide a convenient can be work in the entertainment at the same time to talk (Google culture, 2013). This is reason for success to leader into Google.

Developing My Leadership Skills

Through my MBA course study, I have learning some important of being a leader and a business skills. Leaders will have to learn an some new set skills four ability to success of new headship.

Frist, the new leader understands and practices the power of appreciation. It is one of the most powerful motivators, especially for knowledge workers.

Second, the new leader keeps reminding people of what is important. Which is help the employees understand means and value to work, and focus collective energy. Third, the new leader generates and sustains trust. That will help them building employees loyalty to organization. Fourth, the new leader and the led are intimate allies. They must be talk closely than can be bring maximum benefit to the organization (Mullins ,2013)Therefore, In the future I will keep to developing my leadership skills, and more practices it.

Conclusion

Good leadership is very important in the future. There are discuss leadership definitions and what are the new skills of the leadership. However, leadership is very necessity in the world. .

Ethical leader

Introduction

Many people would define ethics and morality as identical, but it is helpful to view them somewhat differently. Moral leadership is way of living life that a person, whether in the workplace and out of the way of development. A person showing moral leadership to understand his or her core values and true to these values of life, always committed to the common interests of mankind. The purpose of the blog will be evidence suggests that ethccal leader behavior can have important positive effects on both individual and organizational effectiveness (Rubin et al 2010)

According to Stogdill, R.M, handbook of the leadership the ethical leadership can be defined as leadership based on persuade, motivate and inspire other ways rather than coercive means to manage people (Stogdill,1974) greatest asset is the talent business, once the employer improperly, talent will become the largest corporate debt.

Therefore, the morality more important than the professional ability, because the character at stake sustainable enterprise competitiveness. In a moral good corporate executives, will get the respect from the staff, who he was the center of trade unions to form an affected system, its influence far beyond the powers of the office in charge of their own sphere of influence.

Leader of the ethical concept indeed have a huge impact employees based on the above noted, for some reason want the leader of the research point of view switch into whether the leader of ethical leadership will result in staff members autonomous behavior. Bear a moral quality, such as honesty, trustworthy, approachable and fairness. They are very moral personal life and professional career, when dealing with people

The ethical leader also has a big positive impact to organization effectiveness. The leader positive action of the specific characteristics of this behavior can be divided into three parts: fairness, power-sharing and role clarification (Kalshoven, hut Hartog’s and D’Hoogh 2011).That will be improving organizational commitment.

First, ethical leadership can help groups forming a weave ethical atmosphere, so that the value of employees with the organizations values consensus, in the process of ethical leadership, leaders will be concerned about employees higher level of demand, increase employee job satisfaction and lower staff turnover rate, improve employees loyalty to organizational.Second, ethical leadership can build a fairness and role clarification image show people. That is calling the organization image. Finally, that is growth ability of the organization. When the organization has a lot of the ethical employees, they will be provided to organize a positive environment and efficient team. Therefore, that of factory will help the organization better in the future.

For example, in 2013, the food standard agency has found more than 1% horsemeat in the beef minces from UK supermarket industry (BBC, 2013). But, After this scandal occurred when Tesco CEO Philip Clarke has sent a message to customers: “Now that we realize that there are a small number of Tesco’s processed meat products contaminated with the horse, we have been trying to go all out the bottom of the problem.

“While testing continues, and today I want to make a clear commitment to our customers and to tell you about what we’ve put in place to prevent this from happening again rigorous process.”

He said that from Saturday if the product tested positive and was withdrawn from sale, Tesco would provide customers with a “better choice” at the same cost (BBC News, 2013)。This approach will deliberately purchase slowly make their days in the future to regain consumer confidence in them, from the moral leadership which not only makes it improves the integrity of the enterprise, but also to improve the employee’s moral qualities.

Other hand, the attitude is very important reason to effective the business ethical. If the organization has building the ethical environment without ethical standards, employ some external people to monitor, and help organization prices to be place at vantage points that will be increase the organization effectiveness (Scudder, 2011)

Conclusion

Ethical leader behavior is very important to the individual and organization effectiveness. This ethical leader can be building the standard rules of the ethical systems to the employees. And it is positive effect from the employee loyalty, organization image and ability to analysis to evaluate the organization effectiveness. Therefore, a good organization needs a leader who has high moral qualities, in order to make the organization long-term competitiveness in today’s society

Resistance to Change

Change refers to the existing business plans and concepts will be converted to the new situation of the progressive and evolving process. Innovation is to generate new ideas and concepts, and put it into the enterprise management process. Transforming enterprises affected by the turmoil in the external environment occurs in the course of business rapidly, a qualitative change process. Management is not static, disposable administration, but a cycle during reciprocation of the dynamic management. It is based on changes in the external environment, the need to change the internal conditions, as well as the results of the feedback strategy, etc., and repeat the process a new round of strategic management is ongoing management.

The manager can had a lot of factors to change in the organization like technology, new innovation, customer behaviors, government policies, social and culture. Also the individuality of employees may cause the resistance as well because each employee has different ideas. Thus, some might accept the change and some might not. (Muhammad, H. 2013)

Effective communication to enable staff to understand the reasons for change, the details of the benefits of successful change, and the details for change, For example, time, place, people, spending, etc.

To effective the education mechanism, training and updating knowledge structure of organization. Direct at staff revolt against countermeasures, and to integrate the overall goals of company and objectives of employees. If required, process the personal conversation and to eliminate any reforms of fear. Feel free to check and improve the reform process. For example, Ullman after being assigned as the CEO, he was bringing capable of remarkable changes at JC Penny. He started training programs. For instance, winning Together Principles and a Retail Academy, which helped the staffs to get the direction to adjust the new changes. These training programs for rules developed more popular environment helping the staffs to feel more encompassing in the organization. This resulted in improved performance of the entire organization new graduates were attracted unto JC Penny and there were sales gain. (ICMR: 2007).

There are three ways to manager employee after enterprise reform. Firstly, encourage employees to meet the challenges brought about by the reform of the positive right mindset. Enterprise reform will inevitably affect the social status, economic interests and individual rights for employees, these are closely related with the interests of the employees.

Hence, to encourage employees with a positive attitude is help to resist changes is restrained emotions generated “medicine.” Employees on ideological education, organizational the staff jointly held regular meetings to keep them about the meaning of changes, completely reversing the staff ideologically emotional resistance to changes, so that they truly recognize the importance of the reform of enterprises and employees, thereby actively encourage employees to use the right mindset to meet the challenges brought about by the change and become supporters of changes. (Susan, M2013)

Secondly, early prevention, continue to strengthen staff awareness, raise awareness of employees. The reason for the change of employee dissatisfaction, the main part of the reason is the lack of understanding of the current society development trend, they stand a height of less than senior managers, there is no sharp vision and insight, the employee always consider the current status of the enterprise is quite good and can keep up with the pace of the times. However, society is not stagnant, self-satisfied attitude will destined become blind hamper.

Finally, the qualitative change of thinking, abandon stereotypes. Staff always used to have become accustomed to things, have become accustomed to the inherent management system, workflow and disciplinary norms. Therefore, the company should try to slow down the pace of changes, due to changes in culture and behavior takes a long time, it is necessary to strengthen ideological training of staff, to conform to the requirements of reform (Acas, 2010)

In conclusion, enterprises should continue to strengthen staff awareness, organize staff training and learning. Meantime, develop their awareness of the need for corporate changes. Changes are likely to increase employees’ interests; therefore, they will naturally raise hands to support. On the contrary, once changes would be detrimental to their interests, for example, it may leads to unemployment, they will strongly oppose. If there is no corresponding solves the problems, employees will become an obstacle to the change of internal reasons.

Introduction

Leadership and management must go hand in hand. They are not the same thing. But they are necessarily linked, and complementary. The purpose of the blog will be  discuss the similarities and differences between management and leadership. Management and leadership the similarities is provide good performance for the target of company. As the same time, they have a lot of different like focus, personality styles and outcomes.

Leadership can be defined as creating a vision for other to follow, building corporate values, and control of the team to success (Dr. Sandra L. Torres ,2013).

Management means comprises directing and controlling a group of one or more people to accomplishing a same goal (Laurie J. Mullins, 2013).

According to my research which provides many examples of how management different from leadership. Managers should focus on the objectives, resources, organizational structure and staff.it can solve many problems. The Leader should be skilled to control every social principles, such as fairness and respect,  effectively to balance between the interests of individual and team.

As an manager do not need a high IQ or heroism, is just need perseverance, strong-willed, hard work, intelligence and analysis capabilities, and with the most important endurance and will.

There is differences aspect in the target location, nature of work, interpersonal relationships and their characteristics for managers and leaders.

The attitude for the manager is a target goals tend to take impersonal, proactive attitude. Leaders adopted a target with full personality and positive attitude.Through the behavior patterns, stimulate imagination and expect to establish specific needs and goals, to determine the company’s direction, and the leader should be able to provide practical guidance to hit themselves and others, meantime,to implement them and to create an innovative environment benefit. The biggest difference between managers and leaders is that they are influence and inspire people to follow their way, and this set the tone for what they do in most other respects.(Dr. Sandra L. Torres ,2013)

However, sometimes contradictory in different between leaders and managers. In generally, that the most effective leaders should be have management and leadership characteristics, and they work together can be have perfect grade.

Following the discussion, as a team leader the most important to allow each member to accept. Therefore, managers should be have outgoing, good communication skills, and  Ready to help others. If they have those of advantages will be good for them to control employees.

A leader in the organization should understand each team member’s strengths and weaknesses so that they can take appropriate action. Each team member likes to be treated differently, so it is very important for leaders to understand where each member of the team want to be treated the way (Hornickel 2012)

Other hand, according to the Amy Jen Su and Muriel Maignan Wilkins say there are a lot of thing can be better for leaders to control they employee. As shows follows in

Give feedback.

Explain to them employee what you are seeing and experiencing. Describe the impact of his action on you and give some suggestions for he to change.

Focus on work, not the person.

Leaders should be regardless of the style of the work done, not waste time to  help employee would change, rather than to focus ton completing the work.

Ask for commitment.

Managers need to give their employees a commitment, which would better motivate staff enthusiasm for work, but also to promote the completion of the task may be more efficient, so be sure to reward mechanism is necessary.

Therefore, if the manager have those of skills is the most effective approach to managing the work of subordinates.

As a member of a team, I want a leader, managers should analyze organizational structure. Formal and informal lines line organization will give the authorities the idea prevalent in the organization. Such as budgets, expenses, remuneration and other control systems for analysis, so that managers can understand the work culture of the organization (Alexander 2008). At the same time, learn to respect the staff and share experience with the staff, led the staff to make better.

Conclusion

Whether the manager or leader that they actually have the same goal, to maximize the interests of the company and efforts, however, the best way that they cooperate with each  other, this is the best result to the organization.

In the retail industry a good inductive analysis , strategy thinking, communicate, give feedback and team work. The most important skill is team work in this industry ( S, Mitchell. 2013). Because,  the challenge of leading groups of people from different backgrounds, different personality.

The basic principles of diversity management is to recognize that employees have different needs, different methods must be used to meet these needs. Managing diversity in the forefront adapt equal employment opportunity law, which means accepting and evaluating different people. Retailers to manage a wide range of programs including; providing diversified training, support team and trainers, manage their career development and promotion (T. Reuters, 2013)

Retailers management staff to meet diverse needs of the target market , for example, at the department store sales 85% of men’s clothing were created by women . In order to better meet the needs of customers , retailers and department stores feel home centers for women who feel compelled to enter into senior management positions – they truly understand the needs of female customers . In addition to better understand the needs of customers , retailers must also confront their employees in the future will tend to be more diverse reality. Many retailers have found that these newborn stars than they used to force employees more effective. In order to facilitate the disabled to improve reservation center , some retailers found that compared with the rate of change of its entire staff and personnel of 30% , only 1% of employees with disabilities . Lloyd’s is a chain of home centers , it changes the underlying staff responsibilities , they no longer need not carry those heavy items . These tasks will be arranged for the night shift employees , the company can replace the bottom of the younger workers older workers , who are often able to provide better customer service, for self- assembly project also has some experience. Effectively manage a diverse work force , not only morally right , but also necessary for business success

Over a third of employees think their bosses do not listen to their workplace concerns.Leaders may have to be more comfortable in making decisions with less information than they would like but that doesn’t mean their teams are equally comfortable.( S, Mitchell. 2013)

 Inclusive leaders

Inclusive leadership is energetic and inspiring; each employee feel truly valued and respected, and engaged in the realization of a common vision. Leader in creating inclusive workplaces, effective leadership for all employees of different teams feel valued for who they are, know that their ideas value. that will be have better results (D. Bilimoria ,2012).
